Green Light for Brownfield Redevelopment for 118 Dwellings in Ramsgate

Hume Planning Consultancy assembled the project team and recently helped to secure planning for 118 dwellings at Flambeau Europlast’s existing factory premises in Ramsgate.

As a brownfield site, it was important to maximise the development floorspace for planning reasons but also critical to generate the maximum site value to potentially allow Flambeau to relocate to a purpose-built factory that would be more efficient for their production activity.

Aside from design and place making considerations, the main focus of the negotiations led by the Hume Planning team focused on the technical issue arising from a surface water flow path beneath the site and the site viability, to “deliver” which in this case involved successfully demonstrating that the scheme could not provide affordable housing.

Now planning has been secured, we wish Flambeau (who are one of the largest employers in Thanet) all the best in identifying a suitable site to relocate and grow their business, which this permission hopefully will help to facilitate.
