Bats Safeguarded which unlocks Gibraltar Farm Access in Medway

After a long history of applications and appeals, Medway Planning Committee approved outline planning permission for 450 dwellings on 28th August 2024.

This decision followed an earlier Public Inquiry and Inspector’s decision to dismiss a previous scheme because of potential conflict between bat activity and lighting within a crucial pedestrian and cycleway corridor, linking the development to North Dane Way.

Hume Planning co-ordinated the updated submission which addressed these issues allowing the Gibraltar Farm development to be accessed from Ham Lane, despite this not being the optimum access point to serve the scheme. Hume Planning will continue to work on the delivery of this housing development from North Dane Way as had originally been planned.
