ST NICHOLAS AT WADE VILLAGE EXPANSION APPROVED BY MEMBERS

The detailed application was successfully resolved to be approved by the Planning Committee in March 2019 securing 34 new homes at the edge of the village of St Nicholas at Wade beyond the designated settlement confines.

The scheme sought to build on the principles established by an earlier outline permission for 25 dwellings at the site but delivering a wider mix of housing, 11 affordable units and public open space.

Although a departure from policy, following negotiations the LPA officer was able to support the scheme, being satisfied with the justification for the development, including the increased number of units, the design quality of the scheme in terms of its heritage impact on the adjacent listed buildings and on the wider landscape, and the highways solution reached with KCC.
