BOOST FOR CAPEL LE FERNE HOUSING
Hume Planning have successfully secured permission for 34 dwellings within the AONB on a locally controversial site.
The Practice was instructed by the client after a previous scheme had agitated local residents and had been dismissed at appeal. Hume Planning set out a strategy for moving forward which involved engagement with local residents and stakeholders before leading a completely fresh consultancy team to address technical issues and improve the design. Despite a Public Exhibition there continued to be strong local opposition and resolving many technical issues such as transport, ecology and drainage whilst maintaining design quality was the teams focus despite a number of delays.
Despite the local feeling, the decision by Dover District Council to approve the scheme vindicated the Hume Planning strategy of professionally dealing with all technical issues alongside statutory consultees and striving to deliver a high quality housing scheme. Construction on site is expected this Autumn.
