RODDY NEW HOMES “OFF AND RUNNING” WITH HYTHE MIXED USE BOOST FOR 86 DWELLINGS, 66 BED CARE HOME AND OFFICES

Delegated approval has been secured for a Reserved Matters application for 86 dwellings, office floorspace and a 66-bed care home at the former Smiths Medical site in Hythe.

The Reserved Matters submission followed the earlier outline approval (secured by Hume Planning) in July 2021, with the site being acquired by Roddy New Homes which was then followed by a complete reconfiguration of the illustrative layout secured at the outline stage which retested many of the original design and technical considerations. The detailed layout included a Design Panel Review as well as negotiations with the LPA Officer’s.

The site was last operated by Smiths Medical UK which closed in 2017 and this detailed permission will finally enable the site to come forward. We wish Roddy New Homes and Boutique Care every success during the construction stage which we believe will deliver a quality sense of place set within a strong landscaped framework that will have a positive impact on its surroundings.
