GO AHEAD GIVEN FOR MIXED-USE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE SPORTSMAN INN INTO NEW DWELLINGS AND CYCLE CAFÉ / MICRO PUB IN CLIFFSEND

The approved development will revitalise and make efficient use of the sustainably located site to deliver four family dwellinghouses and three high quality contemporary apartments with stunning seascape views above a new micro pub / cycle café. The new commercial facility is well situated to serve the local community and visitors to this area, many of whom pass the site along the adjacent coastal cycle route between Ramsgate and Sandwich. Despite a previous negative appeal decision on an earlier scheme for the site, Hume Planning worked collaboratively with the project team, statutory consultees and LPA officers to secure permission for a revised scheme that has successfully overcome earlier concerns of design, massing and relationship to neighbouring properties. This decision represents a positive outcome for this underutilised site and will boost the availability of quality homes within the District.
