APPEAL SUCCESS FOR THREE DWELLINGS IN HYTHE FOLLOWING SEA DEFENCE UPGRADES

Hume Planning has successful won planning permission for three new dwellings in Hythe at appeal following the refusal of the application by Folkestone & Hythe District Council on flood risk grounds.

In overturning the refusal decision, the Practice, along with flood risk consultants, successfully demonstrated to the Inspector that both the flood risk sequential and exception tests could be met at the site, therefore allowing approval of the infill scheme. The appeal timeline also coincided with the completion of the Hythe Ranges sea defence scheme which will reduce the risk of a breach event occurring and provide the requisite 1 in 200 year level of protection, therefore making sure that the development safe for its lifetime.

Hume Planning are pleased that the supporting evidence was viewed by favourably by the Inspector which will enable the small but meaningful delivery of a three houses in the district.
