SHIPS AHOY FOR COMMUNITY ARTS BARGE AT RAMSGATE HARBOUR

Planning and listed building consent has been granted by Thanet District Council for the permanent mooring of a historic barge within Ramsgate Royal Harbour for a mixture of arts, community and event floorspace.

The application followed positive pre-application engagement with local authority officers which resulted in smooth sailing during the application process and planning permission recently being granted via delegated authority for the siting and installation of the barge adjoining Harbour Parade. Hume Planning have helped to secure this big milestone in the project’s delivery, with the hopes that the permission will enable the community project to secure additional funding and ultimately result in the restoration and opening of the barge which will provide numerous social, economic and cultural benefits within the heart of Ramsgate.
