APPEAL SUCCESS FOR CONTEMPORARY REDEVELOPMENT ALONG FITZROY AVENUE

An independent appeal Inspector has overruled the decision of Thanet District Council to refuse an application for the erection of an apartment building containing four dwellings following the demolition of the existing bungalow.

Despite every effort to achieve a negotiated solution, it was necessary to prosecute an appeal in this case due to differences in opinion over the proposed design, however ultimately the Inspector agreed with Hume Planning’s assessment of the character of the area and the visual impact of the proposal, with the Inspector concluding that the contemporary design of the proposal would make a ‘fitting contribution to the streetscene’.
